2. She likes to go shopping
Dad:
1. He likes to go over to his friends house

Summer Learning Journey
For this Summer Learning Journey activity I had to explain on my blog if I wanted to live in a big family, why or why not. I don't think that I would like to be in a family because: my house will be packed and more than 2 people would be sharing a room, older siblings might pick on me and I might have to take care of younger siblings. Something interesting I learnt was that back in the 1800s amount of children parents would have were 7 - 9.

Summer Learning Journey
For this Summer Learning Journey I drew a picture of me doing my future job. I decided to use google drawing and google drawing tools. My dream job is to be an architect because you get to create and build so many buildings and other unique things. I did take a while to complete this drawing and I hope it looks good.

Summer Learning Journey
For this Summer learning Journey I had to compare, contrast and find the similarities of my house and a wharepuni (a place where maori people slept in). I decided to create a venn diagram. An interesting fact I learnt was that the roofs of a wharepuni are thatched.

Summer Learning Journey
For this Summer Learning Journey activity I watched a video of a Waka Ama race (a sporting event that involves wakas racing). After I had watched the video I had to explain on my blog whether I would want to be in one of a waka ama race one day, why? or why not?
I would want to be in a Waka Ama race because I would like to experience what it feels like to travel through water at such a fast speed in a waka.

Summer Learning Journey

The second activity for the first day of The Summer Learning Journey involves about how I would feel if I was in a waka filled with other people heading off to New Zealand, in a letter I would send to a friend.
Letter: Hi AJ, currently I am in a waka filled with a lot of people that I don't know. I am really scared because the people sitting next to me are acting pretty dodgy. I am also nervous because apparently we are going to a country named New Zealand. I am really worried about my health because I have not eaten or drank anything for the past two days.
Summer Learning Journey

For the first Summer Learning Journey activity I had to find three interesting facts about Maui.
Three interesting facts about Maui:
1. Maui was the youngest out of his brothers.
2. Maui always wanted to go fishing with his older brothers
3. Maui has a special karakia that he recites
I have heard other stories about Maui one being how Maui slowed the sun.

The NEXT Foundation - Summer Learning Journey
Today The NEXT Foundation came to our school assembly. They were here to launch the Summer Learning Journey for 2017/2018. The Summer Learning Journey is hosted by Rachael Williams, the program consists of many different entertaining and educational activities. The NEXT Foundation have made a mini movie with our school. The main character was Daniel (a student in Panmure Bridge School). There were also other students featured in the movie. They were filming Daniel completing the Summer Learning Journey activities, the benefit of taking part in the program, commenting on blogposts and many more. I have been participated in the Summer/Winter Learning Journey for 1 year and a half. After our special assembly The NEXT Foundation provided lunch for our whole school. It was delicious.

Maths - Geometry co-ordination
For maths today, we were doing some geometry coordination. First of all, we had to complete four pages of reading maps. Some of the tasks were pretty easy like: Draw a snake in the jungle and draw a road from toptown to hilltown. Then, we were given a piece paper with instructions and a piece of paper with a half completed dog. Our challenge was to follow the instructions to complete the dog. We then had to color the dog in. For this task, we had to remember and use the ladder rule (You can't go up and across but you can go across then up).
Google Game - Coding
This morning LS2 went on google and played the new google game. The game involved coding. We were making the bunny go in specific directions. We were inserting arrows and different types of codes into the coding bar to make the bunny move. The game had a tutorial at the beginning to give us an idea on how to code.

Tech 2017 Reflection
Tech this for Panmure Bridge year was amazing. We have finished our rotations for this year. For the year 8s first rotation was cooking with Mrs Hecka we have learnt a lot of new recipes. The thing I enjoyed cooking most were the pies. They were delicious. They also took time to make. It took two sessions of cooking to complete it but, it was worth it. Our next session was making clocks with Ms Ferguson. My design was a basketball. I managed to finish it on the last day. Our last rotation was stained glass. Our teacher was Mr Grundy. At first we had to draw our ideas for our design on a sheet of paper. My design was the PBS Logo. Like the clock design I manged to complete it on the last day.
Hazel Informing us About the Next Summer Learning Journey
For Assembly on Friday we had a visitor. The visitor was Hazel (One of the staff from the Summer/Winter Learning Journey) to inform us about how the Summer Learning Journey is coming up soon. The Summer Learning journey is a program that is held over the summer holidays. The program contains a lot of activities. We found out that it starts on 18th of December and ends on the 26th of January. Another thing we found out was that the year 8s that are going to move onto college are welcome to participate and if they win, their prize will be sent to their secondary school. It is very beneficial if we take part in this program because when school starts again you will come back smarter.
