Scale drawing

LS2 has been focusing on the scale drawings  We first had to choose an image that we were going to draw. I chose to do a pirate. Next we had to make a grid on top of the picture. I found drawing the grids the hardest because I am really bad at using rulers. After that we made an enlargement of our Scale Drawing. I enjoyed doing this activity last year and I am glad to do it again this year.

Maths

Yesterday LS2 started creating flextangles. To start off we had a flextangle template with patterns. Nearly everyone managed to finish the template on the first day. Today we were given another flextangle template, but we had to draw our own patterns if we wanted to. I decided to only colour it. I haven't finished it yet. One thing I liked about this activity was how we had to craft our flextangles. I think next time I could add patterns.

For maths we have been doing kahoot's. I have worked with Daniel to come up with the questions. After we had finished our kahoot we gave the game pin to the people in our maths group, so they could try it out.

Ordering Fractions

IN maths we have been practising ordering fractions. We then played a test. I manged to get 75%. I only got one wrong. My goal is to keep practising, ordering my fractions, so next time we do this I could get 100%.

Maths Game - Ordering Fractions

I have played a maths game. In this game you have to place fractions in order. After you have finished all three levels you get your results. I managed to get them all correct except for the last one. If you would like to play this game here is the link.

People Power (Maths)

For maths to day we had to find out percentages. Ms Kirkpatrick showed us a formula that we could use to find out percentages. With a partner we had to solve a set of problems, and write our working out in a DLO. We have included the formula in the DLO, so people understand how to use it.

Clothes Spree

For maths today we had to solve a puzzle. We had an $80 limit. We have to use the full $80. Ofa and I partnered. At the beginning we struggled, but we slowly solved the puzzle. After we had completed the puzzle we had to create our own one. The rules are in the DLO. Good luck completing it.

BEDMAS DLO

This is my DLO on BEDMAS. I have learnt how to solve BEDMAS problems. This DLO is a tutorial on how to solve it. At first I thought it was going to be hard but it turned out to be really easy.

Maths Even More Pizza and Things

I have created a DLO on Even more pizza and things. There is a clue of how many people are there and many more can be seated. We had to solve it and explain how we found out.

Doubling and Halving - Problem Solving

This is my DLO on Doubling and Halving. We had a list of questions we had to answer. We could only use the doubling and halving strategy to answer it. My opinion on the doubling and halving strategy is that it is useful for numbers less than 500. I would recommend a different strategy for really big numbers.

Fractions Game

Today for maths we had to find an adding fractions game. I was struggling a lot but managed to get three correct. I forgot to take a screenshot of my answers so instead I took a screenshot of the game. If you would like to play this game here is the link http://www.mathplayground.com/fractions_add.html

Mesearment Flight

Today for maths we continued with our paper planes. We had to find out who's plane went the furthest in our groups. Tai's one went the furthest. We then had make the exact same plane of the plane that went the furtest. After that we had to make our logo. At the end we had to choose who could throw the plane the furthest in your group. Tai threw it the furthest. At the end the class had a competition to see who's plane goes the furthest. Thomas's one went the furthest. At the end we opened the windows and threw the planes once more and, there were better results.

Maths: Maths multiplication word problems

LI: Solving multiplication problems in everyday contexts

Today for maths we did multiplication problems. I really liked this activity because the questions were really fun and creative. I worked with Sylis. There are some trick questions. One of them were to write how he could work it out? Most people just wrote the answer. We were having trouble on the last questions but, we managed to answer them.

Maths - Hit The Button - Mixed Times Tables

This is my score. I played hit the button. I played mixed times tables. You get asked a question and you have to click on an answer there are a lot of numbers so you have to look at the numbers carefully. I got twenty seven out twenty seven.

Quizizz

In LS2 we have been learning our maths by using this website called Quizizz. First your teacher has to choose which quiz you should, most of the time Ms Naicker chooses times tables. When the quiz starts there is a question at the top, and you have to answer it. the faster you click the answer the more points you get. Some times there are word problems, and you have to read them carefully to get the answer correct. This morning we played quizziz, Mrs Anderson played and came 1st, I think she did very good because she lost connection and caught up to everyone. LS2 have been having a lot of fun doing it. I think it is a good and efficient to learn your maths. If you want to use this website, to learn and have fun here is the link: http://quizizz.com/join/

Maths: Words problems

For maths we had to do word problems. For this activity we had to work together as a team. Our question was to feed 28 people with hot dogs, they all get one each. We could only use a 7 pack of hotdog, a pack of 8 hotdogs, a pack with 8 hotdog buns, a pack of 12 hotdog buns and a pack of 16 hotdog buns. We could only use those hotdogs and those hotdog buns to feed 28 people 1 hotdog each.

Care Awards: create own task

For my care awards I did create own task. I didn't know what task to do. Ms Naicker gave me an idea. She said I should do a DLO on maths. Sylis always helps me in maths, so I decided to work with him on the maths DLO. Our DLO was on decimals. Writing decimals in number, turning it into numerals, and numerals in to words.

Maths Follow up Place value in decimals

Today morning Ms Naicker's group in maths were doing decimals. My learning intention was Find the Place Value in Decimals. We had to write the decimals numerals in words and write the decimal words into numeral decimals. I had fourteen questions altogether. I managed to finish. I got confused a little. Sometimes I wrote numbers instead of words. We were learning to understand where and what the place values are in the decimals. Ms Naicker helped us out a lot. One of the questions was 24.34 I had to write that in words and the answer was twenty four and thirty four hundredths.

Maths Number Knowledge

For maths we were learning different topics. E.G I was doing ordering fraction and someone would be doing addition to 20. I was practising it for the Ikan test. I got the first 2 correct straight away but on the other 3 I was struggling. I kept trying until I got all of them correct. I was learning and getting faster, I also was having fun.

Pirates decimals

This is my screenshot on my decimal game. we had to answer decimal questions like 6 in the hundreths place. I did this because I wanted to know my decimals. I really enjoyed this. The part I likes most is when you get a new item when you go up the level.
