Current Events: China Bans Ivory by the end of 2017

China will ban ivory by the end of 2017. After we read articles about this topic, we then made a DLO about it (Current Events). We had to look at both perspectives of the topic. The first perspective was innocent elephants were being killed. The second perspective was people selling ivory won't be able to provide for their family after they have lost their job. I have worked with Eric, and we came up with an informed opinion which is included in our DLO.

This is my DLO on current events. I wanted to catch up with space news. Obama wants astronauts to go to Mars in the mid 2030's. A lot of scientists say that we might live in Mars in the next years. That's why Obama wants astronauts to see what Mars is like.

Today I was on Kiwi Kids News and I clicked on the odd stuff category and I was hooked into the title. I read the article and I thought it would be great if I made a DLO on it, so I did. This is my is my can do. I did current events. My event was Astronaut breaks record. He only broke the record for Americans. I really enjoyed doing this because I learnt a lot of new things. I didn't know people can even be in space for that long. I think that in the future someone will break the world record by a lot. Currently Cosmonaut has the record of staying in space for 879 days. 

Current Events: The Big Sleep Out

For reading we did current events and out event was The Big Sleep Out. We had to read an article then answer the questions. This was an event that happened last year and 135 people participated. The main idea was to know what events are happening around the world. My point of view changed because of what the homeless really had to go through. It also changed because how they have no place to stay and no food to eat.

This is something big that happened in NZ this should be taken seriously and I want everyone in NZ to know this happened. I did this because I wanted to know what big is happening currently.

Current Events - Bus drivers on strike

Calvin I worked on a current event activity. our topic was bus driver go on strike. We had to first answer the first three question. Then we had to read the article carefully and find out some specific and clear answers. Next we had to go on the mat and share our ideas. All the good ideas we shared we expanded it and made it more clearly. We had to look at the bus drivers point of view and the public's point and write down how they might of felt. After that we had to finish of our last questions.

I did a current events activity. This topic was daylight saving ended. The time is now one hour back. E.G if you wake up at 8:00 you will wake up at 7:00. I did this because I wanted to find something interesting news in kiwi kids news.

This is my current events can do for reading. I came across a really interesting article. The question I enjoyed answering was why it happened because it was challenging. I did this because the article was interesting. I learnt that flies fill a vital role in the environment.
