In the ancient Olympics girls were not allowed to participate, they were not even allowed to watch the Olympics. We are all human beings we should all be treated the same in a good way. Another reason why I am against this rule is because girls can do as much as boys can, girls have the potential to win, they can even be better than boys and they are really competitive. If the girls are not allowed to participate they should at least be able to watch the games. I personally think this rule is not necessary and not fair.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson, and Ms Kirkpatrick.

Winter Learning Journey: Ancient Olympics
This holidays our school is participating in the Winter Learning Journey. The theme for this term is Ancient Olympics. This is my first activity I have done. I had to imagine I was alive 2792 years ago and choose which sport I would want to compete in.

Yesterday one of the members from Spark came to visit the year 7 and 8. Lynne came to talk to us about The Peter Blake Trust. First we had to write down on a note who you think is a really good leader. After that we had to write down our dream and if you had a New Zealand dream you had to write it down below. At the end Lynne gave us bags, hats, bottles, pens and a note book. We got to choose what colour we wanted. Our choices were green, pink, orange, yellow and purple.

Story Starters: Buddy writing
Many moons ago the was an orangutan who is always treated differently. So he went out on a journey through a rainforest. He was have a peaceful time until he saw a vicious snake. He falls down and gets stuck so he calls for help but on one’s there. The snake gets closer and closer so he used all his strength to get out, He then climbs up a gigantic tree where he is safe. But the snake could climb a tree to so jumps onto another tree. The orangutan kept swinging from tree to tree, he was finally safe but he realised he was lost. So he panicked and tried to find another way out. He started running until he found his home.
For writing today we did story starters. We had to find a buddy then Mrs Anderson spun the wheel and it came up with write story about an unpopular orangutan who gets lost in the amazon. My buddy was CJ. We had to write sentence by sentence for 5 minutes, but we couldn't communicate with each other, which made it more interesting. After we had finished we had to make three powerful word changes. After that we had to find another pair, the other pair had to read out their story and we had to draw what it looks like in our head.
