Language Features Similie

For writing we had to fill in the blanks of similies. E.G He's as busy as a ____. We the had to choose one of the similes and illustrate it. I chose She's as quick as a Bunny. I used photos showing quickness. I used arrows to point at the Bunny showing that the bunny is fast. Here are some examples of similies:
I am as busy as a Bee
It’s as slippery as an Eel
She’s as quick as a Fox
He’s as blind as a Bat
She’s as wise as an Owl
She’s as happy as a Lark
He’s as gentle as a Lamb
He’s as slow as a Snail
He’s as stubborn as a Mule
He’s as quiet as a Mouse
He’s as strong as an Ox
I’m as sick as a Dog

Making Connections

Today I have been practising making connections. The connections we have to a text will help us understand the information. There are three types of connections: Text to text, text to self and Text to world.

Current Events: China Bans Ivory by the end of 2017

China will ban ivory by the end of 2017. After we read articles about this topic, we then made a DLO about it (Current Events). We had to look at both perspectives of the topic. The first perspective was innocent elephants were being killed. The second perspective was people selling ivory won't be able to provide for their family after they have lost their job. I have worked with Eric, and we came up with an informed opinion which is included in our DLO.

Chunky "Ake" Challenge

Today for reading we were coming up with words that start with ake, end with ake and have ake in the middle. We then had to turn them into simple, compound and complex sentences. We then created a word cloud on the ake words. I really enjoyed taking part in this activity.
